At least five Palestinians have been killed after Israeli troops carried out a raid on the West Bank city of Tubas, Palestinian medics say, more than a week after the occupying entity launched a massive military aggression on the Palestinian territory.

In a statement on Thursday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said that an Israeli strike hit a car in Tubas, in the northeastern occupied West Bank, claiming the lives of five Palestinians.

“Five killed and (one) seriously wounded in a strike (on) a car in Tubas,” it said, as the Israeli military said in a statement that its aircraft “conducted three targeted strikes" on armed Palestinians in the Tubas area.

A large number of Israeli troops reportedly stormed the Faraa refugee camp in Tubas governorate, where explosions were heard.

In the early hours of August 28, the Israeli military conducted its biggest operation – dubbed “Camps of Summer” – in the West Bank in over 20 years, deploying hundreds of troops and carrying out airstrikes on Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas, which are major centers of Palestinian resistance against the occupying regime.

The ongoing military aggression in the West Bank is currently concentrated in the city of Jenin, whose streets and infrastructure have been damaged by over 70 percent since the onset of the “Camps of Summer”, according to its municipality.

Since the onset of the current aggression in the West Bank, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces has now increased to at least 39. This includes 19 in Jenin, 8 in Tulkarm, 9 in Tubas, and 3 in al-Khalil. The total death toll in the occupied West Bank has now reached 690 since October 7 last year.

The heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank come as the Israeli regime has since October been conducting a barbaric onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip, killing more than 40,800 people, most of them women and children.

Separately, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli forces forcibly displaced Palestinian families in Jenin's al-Jabariyat neighborhood and also torched a house in the Jenin refugee camp on Wednesday, in the second week of the aggression.

It added that the Israeli military sent in additional troops to the besieged city and refugee camp of Jenin on Wednesday evening.

Israeli forces also bulldozed Nazareth Street north of Jenin, which connects the city to villages nearby, Wafa added.

On Tuesday, spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Stéphane Dujarric, warned that Israeli forces continue to employ “lethal war-like tactics” in the West Bank, including airstrikes, with people being killed, injured and displaced.
