Lebanese parliament speaker: Netanyahu determined to break up entire region into pieces'

Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri says the Israeli prime minister is hell-bent on the fragmentation of the West Asian region, underscoring the essential need to provide unwavering support to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war.

“The Israeli cabinet led by [Benjamin] Netanyahu is dogged to break up the region into pieces and create a situation where Israel is the strongest entity. We must stand by Gaza, back the Palestinian nation's legitimate right to establish an independent Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital, and stop the ongoing massacres in Gaza above all else,” Berri said on Saturday.

He went on to state that the incumbent Israeli administration thwarts any initiative aimed at stopping the Gaza war, and the unprecedented set of war crimes that is occurring in the besieged coastal territory.

Netanyahu is implementing the saying that “The best among the Gentiles deserves to be killed,” which provides the ideological basis for the destruction of the Palestinian nation, Berri noted.

The senior Lebanese legislator described Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza as a deliberate attempt by the Zionist regime to change the geographical makeup of the region.

“The fall of Gaza will be a nasty fall for the entire Muslim Ummah in terms of security, culture, history and its geographical borders. Standing by Gaza and Palestine is a test of humanity for Arabs and Muslims. Success in such a test can only be achieved by intensifying resistance against the apartheid Zionist regime through all available means, including armed struggle,” Berri stated.

Commenting on the Israeli military’s frequent strikes on towns and villages in southern Lebanon, Berri said, “What is happening in the south is not simply an incident, but rather a full-blown aggression by Israel.”

The Lebanese parliament speaker described Israel as an absolutely wicked regime. Whilst Beirut is fully implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Israel has to be forced into abiding by the resolution.

The Israeli regime has been conducting near-daily attacks against southern Lebanon since October 7, when it launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.

Lebanon's resistance movement Hezbollah has been responding with strikes aimed both at retaliating against the regime and supporting the war-hit Gazans.

The regime, which waged wars against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006, has repeatedly threatened to expand its attacks into another wholesale military onslaught against the country.

Hezbollah has vowed to defend the Lebanese soil with all its resources.
