Report: US military base in east Syria hit by rocket barrage

An illegal military facility housing US occupation forces in Syria’s eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr has reportedly come under a rocket attack from nearby areas.

Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, citing local sources, reported that ‏several explosions were heard in the area close to the US-controlled Conoco gas field late on Thursday after a number of projectiles struck the site.

The US forces activated missile defense systems at the base to confront the incoming rockets.

There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or the extent of damage at the installation.

Iraqi resistance forces have conducted dozens of strikes on the US-run military installations in both Iraq and Syria amid growing anti-US sentiments in the region over Washington’s support for Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza, which has so far killed at least 40,602 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Eight US forces suffer traumatic brain injury in Syria attack: Pentagon

The Pentagon has announced that as many as eight American forces suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI) during a recent attack on their base in northeastern Syria.

There are nearly 2,500 American troops in Iraq and some 900 in Syria as part of, what Washington claims to be, a fighting force against Daesh.

The US has maintained its presence, although, the Arab countries and their allies defeated the Takfiri terrorist group in late 2017.

In 2020, the Iraqi parliament voted for the expulsion of US forces.

The vote came after Iran’s top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and deputy commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis had been assassinated in a cowardly drone strike ordered by then US president Donald Trump outside of the Baghdad airport.

On January 8, 2020, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) targeted the US-run Ain al-Asad air base in Iraq after launching a wave of attacks to retaliate the assassination of the two top anti-terror commanders.

According to the Pentagon, more than 100 American forces suffered “traumatic brain injuries” during the counterstrike on the base.

The IRGC, however, said Washington used the term to mask the number of Americans who perished during the reprisal.
