US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Another deadly day for Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip as relentless Israeli air and artillery strikes continue to pound the blockaded territory. An Israeli strike in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza killed at least four civilians. Five others were killed after an Israeli airstrike hit a Palestinian house in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The city was also the scene of intense artillery shelling by the regime forces. In central Gaza, Israeli warplanes struck the Dayr al-Balah area, killing and injuring a number of Palestinians. The al-Bureij and Nusierat refugee camps were also among the places targeted by Israeli air raids. A Palestinian journalist was killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp, bringing the total number of journalists killed in Gaza to more than 170. The Israeli aggression, which began in October last year, has so far claimed the lives of over 40,400 and injured more than 90,000 others.

Israel al-Aqsa incursions

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has slammed as dangerous escalation, Israel’s stated plans to fund further incursions into the al-Aqsa mosque. In a statement, Hamas said Israel is playing with fire and that any such move would ignite a widespread religious war. The group said the regime would not succeed in erasing historical facts, and that the holy mosque will remain purely an Islamic site. It called on Palestinians across the occupied territories to make frequent visits to the al-Aqsa mosque and resist Israel’s violations there. Hamas also called for the organization of Islamic Cooperation's serious action to foil such Israeli plots. The group encouraged the Arab and Islamic nations to protest the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and their lands.

Censorship in US

Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg, who owns Facebook and Instagram, has admitted he was pressured by the US government in 2021 to censor online posts, especially those related to Covid-19.In a letter to the US House Judiciary Committee, he said some material, including covid-related humor and satire, was taken down under pressure from the Biden-Harris administration. Zuckerberg also said Meta briefly demoted content relating to Joe Biden's son, Hunter, ahead of the 2020 election. According to him, the move came after the FBI's warning about a potential Russian disinformation campaign. Zuckerberg described the government's pressure as wrong, regretting that he has not been outspoken about it. The letter comes as the US Judiciary committee has been investigating content moderation on online platforms. Republicans regard Zuckerberg’s letter as a big win ahead of the presidential election in November.
