Israeli military announces death of 4 forces in Gaza

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari

The Israeli military has announced the death of four of its forces and injury of seven others as a result of resistance operations in the Gaza Strip, which is subject to a genocidal war by the regime.

Speaking on Saturday, spokesman Daniel Hagari said the forces belonged to a reconnaissance unit that had assaulted a building in Gaza City’s Zeitoun District three days earlier.

Three of the invading troops died after detonation of an explosive device that had been hidden inside one of the building’s walls, while a fourth was killed during a gun battle with resistance fighters, he added.

The regime claims that the deaths have taken the total number of the forces, who have been killed during the October 2023-present war to 336. It launched the aggression in response to al-Aqsa Storm, a retaliatory operation staged by Gaza’s resistance groups.

Observers, however, say the regime underreports the fatalities to retain the morale of its forces and restrain backlash from those demanding a ceasefire that could enable the return of those who were taken captive during al-Aqsa Storm.

On August 14, the rehabilitation department of the regime’s ministry for military affairs said more than 10,000 Israeli forces had been afflicted with either physical or mental trauma during the war.

As much as 37 percent of these had received physical trauma to their limbs, while 35% had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental disorders caused by trauma, it said.

The brutal military onslaught has, meanwhile, claimed the lives of more than 40,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
