Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the Islamic Republic will continue to support Syria and all pro-resistance countries in the confrontation against the Israeli regime.

Araghchi made the comment in a Friday phone call with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, who congratulated the top Iranian diplomat on his new mission.

Mekdad said Damascus is resolved to improve strategic relations with Tehran.

The top Iranian and Syrian diplomats stressed the need to proceed with mutual consultations on ways to promote relations in various fields.

Araghchi and Mekdad emphasized the importance of standing against the Israeli regime's acts of aggression and crimes, as well as supporting Palestine.

The two ministers invited each other to pay visits to Tehran and Damascus.

Iran will continue to support Lebanon in face of Israel: Araghchi

Also in a phone conversation with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Friday, Araghchi said the new Iranian administration’s approach is based on providing more support to the Lebanese government, nation and resistance in the face of the Israeli regime’s aggression.

Bou Habib extended his congratulations to his new Iranian counterpart and expressed hope that the two countries will further strengthen cooperation.

The Iranian and Lebanese foreign ministers exchanged views about the latest developments in the region amid the Israeli regime’s war crimes in Palestine over the past 10 months and its attacks against Lebanon.

Both sides expressed their readiness to continue consultation on various issues of common interest.

Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging deadly fire since early October last year, shortly after the regime launched the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip in response to a surprise operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group.

The Lebanese resistance movement has vowed to keep up its retaliatory attacks as long as the Israeli regime continues its war on Gaza.

Hezbollah officials have repeatedly said they do not want a war with Israel while stressing that they are prepared in case it occurs.

Two Israeli wars waged against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006 were met with strong resistance from Hezbollah, resulting in the retreat of the regime in both conflicts.
