Hamas hails Colombia’s ban on coal exports to Israel, urges all states to sever ties with ‘fascist entity’
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has commended Colombia’s move to suspend the export of coal to Israel, stressing the need for all countries to cut off ties with the regime.
“We call on all countries to sever their relations with this fascist entity and to work by all means to boycott, isolate, impose sanctions on it, and prosecute its leaders as war criminals before international courts,” Hamas said in a statement on Monday.
The movement hailed a statement issued by Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro in which he said Israel is using Colombian coal to make bombs and kill Palestinian children.
It also expressed its appreciation for Colombia’s courageous stance on severing its diplomatic relations with the Tel Aviv regime and condemning its genocidal war against the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip.
The Colombian president on Sunday signed a decree to stop coal supplies to Israel in connection with the regime’s 10-month-long genocidal war against the Palestinians in Gaza.
The ban will go into effect five days after the document is published. Colombia was one of Israel’s largest coal suppliers.
This comes as the death toll from more than 10 months of genocide has already surpassed the grim milestone of 40,000. More than 92,000 others have also been injured in the regime’s attacks.
Hunger, malnutrition and lack of medical supplies are also taking their toll on the Palestinian population.
