Iran has condemned an Israeli bombing of a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip that left more than a hundred people dead and a lot more injured.
“The continuation of the insane attacks by the Zionist regime against Palestinian civilians and the brutal massacre of women, children and the elderly, especially today’s heinous attack by this regime on the Palestinian refugees living in the al-Taba’in school, once again proved that the apartheid regime of Israel does not respect any of the rules and regulations of international law as well as moral and human principles,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani said Saturday.
Early on Saturday, Israel bombed the al-Tabi’in school in the al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City as the citizens were performing the dawn prayer.
Stressing that the barbaric attack was a clear example of simultaneously committing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, Kan'ani said, “The only way to deal with this cruel regime is the firm and decisive action of Muslim and freedom-loving countries across the world…against occupation and aggression.”
Kan’ani described the Israeli attack on the al-Tabi’in school as a clear example of threats to international peace and security, calling for immediate and effective action by the United Nations Security Council based on the seventh chapter of the United Nations Charter to curb and stop Israel’s crimes.
Backed by the US and its Western allies, the Israeli regime launched an all-out invasion of Gaza after it was caught off-guard by Operation Al-Aqsa Storm inside the occupied territories in October last year.
Nearly 40,000 Palestinians have since been killed, most of them women and children, and upwards of 91,000 others injured in the merciless Israeli aggression.
Israel has also been enforcing a crippling siege on the coastal territory by choking off the flow of foodstuffs, medicine, electricity, and water into the Palestinian territory.
