Yemenis have staged mass demonstrations across the country to express solidarity with Palestinians amidst Israel's more than ten-month-long genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

Demonstrators once again took to the streets in dozens of cities and towns, including the capital Sana’a and the northwestern city of Sa'ada, on Friday, denouncing Israeli genocidal war against Palestinians in the coastal territory.

The Yemeni demonstrators also hailed the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the new political leader of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas after the Israeli assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran on July 31.

The protesters carried Palestinian flags and chanted slogans in support of the resistance.

They also praised the Yemeni army for its military operations against the Israeli regime and its interests.

The Arab country has been holding rallies every Friday in solidarity with Palestine since the war broke out in Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Ever since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, the Yemeni forces have carried out scores of operations in support of the war-hit Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to targeting Israeli ships or vessels heading towards ports in the occupied territories.

The attacks have forced some of the world’s biggest shipping and oil companies to suspend transit through one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes.

Tankers are instead adding thousands of miles to international shipping routes by sailing around the continent of Africa rather than going through the Suez Canal.

Yemen says it will continue to back Palestinians until the ongoing genocide comes to an end.

In the latest development, the Yemeni Armed Forces and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq carried out another joint operation against the Israeli regime in retaliation for the genocide in Gaza.

In a statement, Yemen’s Armed Forces said on Friday morning that a vital Israeli target was struck in the occupied port city of Umm al-Rashrash, also known as Eilat. It added that the resistance forces successfully hit the target with several drones.
