Greco-Roman wrestler Mirzazadeh bags first bronze for Iran at Paris Olympics

Amin Mirzazadeh defeated his rival from Azerbaijan 4-0 in the quarter-final stage and grabbed the bronze medal.

Iran’s Amin Mirzazadeh defeated his opponent from Azerbaijan 4-0 to clinch the country’s first bronze medal in the 130-kg category of Greco-Roman wrestling at the Paris Olympics 2024.

On Tuesday, Mirzazadeh defeated Azerbaijan’s Sabah Shariati in the quarter-final stage.

It's the first medal for the Iranian contingent at the marquee sports event.

Cuba’s Mijaín López defeated Yasmani Acosta of Chile 6-0 to win the gold medal in the Olympics.

Earlier, Mirzazadeh defeated American opponent Adam Coon 3-0 in the category of 130 kg.

But, he lost to his Cuban rival and defeated his opponent from South Korea in his previous matches.
