Palestinian woman recounts Israeli tanks running over her family in Gaza

Rights groups hasve previously documented many instances of the Israeli army killing Palestinian civilians by intentionally running over live civilians with military tanks.

A Palestinian woman has recounted the details of Israeli tanks attacking her family while they were inside displacement tents in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The woman said Israeli forces began firing towards the tents without warning or requesting evacuation.

“When the tank advanced, my husband threw himself over three of my children to protect them. He was shot in the back and he and the children could not escape,” she was quoted as saying.

The woman said the tank advanced towards her and one of her children. It trampled her until it reached her back.

“I was waiting for the tank to come back and run me over… I do not know what happened with my husband and two of my sons who were run over and killed. I don’t know whether they were buried or bulldozed.”

The Israeli military recently withdrew from eastern Khan Younis more than a week after an incursion and heavy bombardment killed dozens of Palestinians and forced thousands of others to flee.

Euro-Med Monitor, a Geneva-based rights group, has previously documented many instances of the Israeli army killing Palestinian civilians by intentionally running over live civilians with military tanks.

The Israeli army continues to use its tanks to deliberately run over live Palestinian civilians and crush their bodies, in addition to using civilians as human shields, in the ground operations of its crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing since 7 October 2023.

Most of these tank attacks have also targeted vehicles with no evident military connection, demonstrating the Israeli army’s systematic destruction of Palestinian property.

These crimes come in tandem with a public incitement campaign by Israeli officials, media figures, and settlers calling for the annihilation of Palestinians in Gaza.

In the besieged Gaza Strip, more Palestinians continue to lose their lives in relentless Israeli attacks.

Health officials have announced that the latest Israeli attacks across Gaza have killed at least 18 people and injured several more.  This raised the number of Palestinian civilians killed during the past day to 40.

In central Gaza, rescue teams are still searching for those missing in a Sunday bombing of two schools that killed at least 30 civilians, most of them children.

The Israeli genocidal war since October 7 last year, has claimed nearly 40,000 Palestinian lives leaving more than 91,000 others injured.
