Palestinians in West Bank demand end of war in Gaza and fair treatment of prisoners

Hundreds of Palestinians protesters marched through the streets of West Bank on Saturday (August 3) to call for an end of war in Gaza and to demand fair treatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Gaza health ministry said in a statement on Saturday that at least 39,550 Palestinians have been killed and 91,280 injured in the Israeli military offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7.

The protesters called for a fair treatment of prisoners inside Israeli jails, after the Israeli military police detained earlier this week nine soldiers over separate allegations of severe abuse of a detainee captured in Gaza.

A report by the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, known by its acronym UNRWA, released earlier this year, stated that detainees claimed they were subjected to mistreatment and abuse while in Israeli custody, without specifying in which facility.
