Israeli forces have conducted an airstrike on a school housing displaced Palestinians in Shejaiya in Gaza City, killing at least 15 people and wounding dozens others.

“The Israeli occupation forces targeted the Dalal al-Maghribi School, which was housing displaced people, with three missiles, completely destroying it,” Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mamdouh Basal, said in a video message on Thursday.

The airstrikes left at least 15 killed, including two children, and 40 others injured.

The Israeli military admitted it hit the school, claiming it was used as a hideout by Hamas resistance fighters.

“The Israeli fighter jets struck terrorists operating inside a compound within the Dalal School in the area of Shejaiya in Gaza City,” according to a statement.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said the attack was “a new massacre to be added to a long series of massacres” committed by the Israeli army.

The group urged the Arab and Muslim nations as well as free people across the world to “escalate the angry public activities and to put pressure to stop the genocidal war.”

It also called on the UN, international courts and all relevant parties to “take a serious and strong action to stop the crimes committed by the war criminal [Benjamin] Netanyahu and his terrorist army” and not to remain silent and idle, amid the ongoing massacres.

Israel, flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, proceeds with its brutal aggression despite international condemnation.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

The regime’s bloody onslaught on Gaza has so far killed 39,480 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 91,128 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.
