Hamas politburo leader Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination by the Israeli regime during his visit to Tehran on Wednesday has triggered an avalanche of anger and outrage across the world.
Haniyeh was in the Iranian capital to attend Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian, where he was accompanied by other Axis of Resistance leaders.
The details of the assassination plot aren’t known yet, but the preliminary investigation points to the direct role of the Zionist entity and the green light from the Joe Biden administration in Washington.
Social media has been abuzz with a multitude of posts condemning the cowardly assassination and calling for strong and stern action against the illegitimate regime in Tel Aviv.
Many top-ranking government officials in the region have also strongly condemned the assassination as well as the breach of the Islamic Republic of Iran's sovereignty.
Many of them were present at President Pezeshkian's swearing-in ceremony with Haniyeh in Tehran on Tuesday.
Pertinently, the assassination of Haniyeh came a day after another targeted attack against a leader of the Hezbollah resistance movement in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon.
These attacks came days after Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu returned from his trip to the United States, where he was welcomed and applauded over the genocidal war crimes in Gaza.
Here are some of the reactions on social media regarding Haniyeh’s assassination.
When Israel murdered his sons and grandchildren, Ismail Haniyeh remained calm and asked God to have mercy on them.

Haniyeh and his family have been in danger for decades.
They paid the ultimate price in the name of Palestinian liberation.
May it not be in vain. pic.twitter.com/E6ToLeP2BF
may the abundance of paradise comfort Ismail Haniyeh. May he be wrapped in robes of silk and doused in the sweet musk of Jannah. May he reunite with his relatives in the gardens of Al- Firdous. May he be blessed with all that is beautiful. pic.twitter.com/bXVPa8P5Wd

Israel's assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is an act of war.
— Richard Medhurst (@richimedhurst) July 31, 2024
The United States and Israel want to plunge the region into a conflict.
But no amount of assassinations will help Israel's weak strategic posture. The Zionist colony has sealed its fate. pic.twitter.com/W43Rhk5vn4
I condemn in the strongest possible terms the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the Political Bureau Chairman of the Hamas resistance movement.

Ismail Haniyeh, Allah's lion who valiantly fought against the world's cruelest forces, has ultimately succeeded in his mission. First, he sacrificed his family in the path of God; then, he himself became a traveler to heaven. Martyrdom is not the end… pic.twitter.com/dYi7oxLH5o
These were the martyr Ismail Haniyeh’s words when he learned that israel murdered his family and now they assassinated him too:

As if genocide wasn’t enough, Israel is outdoing even itself. Assassination in Lebanon (w/o Lebanese consent), assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran (w/o Iranian consent),& massive movement from ground 2 top of govt in upheaval 2 defend the Israeli right to rape. All just today

Israel bombed Gaza and Lebanon. It also bombed the residence of Ismail Haniyeh and killed him in Iran. Unbelievable violation of the Vienna convention and Palestine and Lebanon and Iran's sovereignty.
— Mohamad Safa (@mhdksafa) July 31, 2024
Only Israel can bomb 3 countries and still be perceived as the victim.
Ismail Haniyeh lived in Qatar and was principally responsible for hostage negotiations with Israel
— James Rosen-Birch ⚖️🕊️ (@provisionalidea) July 31, 2024
He was the head of the political bureau of Hamas — not its military wing
His assassination by Israel serves to kill the negotiations and score a PR win to defuse domestic tension
Israe1 assassinated Ha.mas leader Ismail Haniyeh with a targeted assault on him in Iran. Is.rael again targeted someone, irrespective of who they are, in a different country. Don't tell me the threat is Iran, there is no other threat than Israel! pic.twitter.com/1V5uUgauDd

I am deeply saddened to learn that Ismail Haniyeh, one of the leading political figures of the Palestinian resistance, was martyred as a result of a treacherous and inhumane assassination.

The Palestinian resistance, which grows in the hearts of people worldwide, will continue…
The assassination of Ismail Haniyeh is deplorable and to be condemned in the strongest terms. This will do nothing but lead to further instability and conflict and it is a grave setback for the cause of peace. https://t.co/FukDVQ3iIh

Haniyeh assassination would seem to be Israel's final response to the alleged "ceasefire" talks.
— Sam Husseini (@samhusseini) July 31, 2024
The assassination of Haniyeh is a Zionist crime that confirms Netanyahu's disregard for all international norms to drag the region into a full-scale war. Israel has foolishly misjudged the situation, alongside the bombing of the southern suburb of Beirut!!! #ismailhaniye#لبنان pic.twitter.com/oArCU0JsKC
