The Israeli military has issued new expulsion orders for Palestinians residing in the besieged Gaza Strip’s southern city of Khan Yunis, as the Israeli regime continues its devastating onslaught on the besieged territory.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Israeli military ordered residents of the southern city to evacuate and march toward al-Mawasi, a town in the southern Gaza Strip, a so-called safe zone but frequently bombarded by the occupying regime.

“Remaining in this area has become dangerous” due to rocket fire from the southern area of Khan Yunis, said the statement, after the regime claimed that it had retrieved the bodies of five Israelis and warned of new military aggression.

Khan Yunis has been under heavy bombardment recently. A fresh Israeli ground aggression earlier this week claimed the lives of dozens of Palestinians there.

On Monday, the Israeli military said that it would reduce its so-called “humanitarian zone” in the eastern part of the ill-fated city, claiming that fighters of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas had been detected in the area.

According to figures released by the United Nations, more than 180,000 Palestinians have already fled fierce fighting in Khan Yunis since the Israeli military began an offensive in the area last week.

The evacuation orders and “intensified hostilities” have “significantly destabilized aid operations”, the UN said in a statement, reporting “dire water, hygiene and sanitation conditions” in the Palestinian territory.

On July 13, the Israeli military targeted camps of displaced Palestinians in al-Mawasi, killing more than 90 people and injuring nearly 300 others, according to official Palestinian sources.

Such evacuation orders generally signal imminent ground assaults by the barbarous Israeli war machine.

Israel launched its brutal war on Gaza on October 7 last year after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the usurping regime in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Since the start of the aggression, the Israeli regime has been committing war crimes in Gaza, killing more than 39,100 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring over 90,000 others.
