Russia's President Vladimir Putin has vowed to crush anyone who attempts to sow division within the Russian society, while praising effectiveness and unswerving loyalty of the Russian Federation’s powerful law enforcement agencies.

In a video message posted by the Kremlin on Thursday, the 71-year-old Russian leader made the remarks on the occasion of Investigation Officers' Day, a professional holiday celebrated in Russia on July 25.

“I would like to stress that those who try to instill fear and divide our society, playing on religious and ethnic sentiments, will never succeed. They will face inevitable and just retribution,” Putin said, according to the English translation of his statement published on the official website of the President of Russia.

The Russian leader was paying tribute to various Russian law enforcement agencies, including the Investigative Committee and the FSB security services, the successor to the Soviet-era KGB.

“I am confident that Russian investigation officers will continue to achieve new commendable results across all key areas of their work, demonstrating their best professional, personal and moral qualities such as professionalism, objectivity, strong character and, of course, unwavering loyalty to the Fatherland and our nation,” Putin added.

In March, armed assailants fatally shot over 140 people at a concert hall in Moscow, marking the nation’s deadliest terrorist attack in nearly twenty years. The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility, but, Putin and other Russian officials stressed that Kiev had a role in the carnage.
