Incessant Israeli strikes, successive evacuation orders devastating Gaza health system: UN

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) says unending Israeli attacks, frequent evacuation orders and forced displacements have further devastated the battered health system in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on Thursday, UNRWA said tens of thousands more Palestinians had been displaced again this week in the besieged Gaza Strip after the Israeli military issued new evacuation orders.

“People can’t access essential healthcare services, particularly ones suffering from chronic diseases,” UNRWA said. “Hospitals are stretched way beyond their capacity.”

The Israeli military has confirmed bombing dozens of targets throughout the besieged Palestinian territory over the past few hours.

Health authorities in Gaza have recorded at least 30 fatalities by Israeli attacks in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

In Khan Yunis, UNRWA reported witnessing “thousands of people fleeing” westwards as part of the exodus from the strip’s southern city amid ongoing hostilities, leaving children traumatized and crying uncontrollably.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said recently that  Gazans uprooted by the Israeli military’s latest evacuation orders have fled their shelters and homes “running for their lives”

Israel’s evacuation orders have also impacted about 8.7 square kilometers of land in the so-called “humanitarian zone” of Al Mawasi, which lies on the coast near Khan Yunis, reducing the size of the zone by nearly 15 percent, according to the OCHA.

“Initial reports indicate that families are currently moving towards areas in Deir al Balah and western Khan Yunis,” OCHA said. “Both areas are already heavily overcrowded, have limited shelters and services available and can barely accommodate the additional influx of displaced people.

As of July 22, nearly 83 percent of the Gaza Strip has been placed under evacuation orders or designated as “no-go zones” by the Israeli military.”

Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza continues as regime forces remain engaged in the ground operation for the fifth consecutive day in the southern city of Khan Yunis.

According to civil defense teams, the death toll is likely to increase as many bodies are still trapped under the rubble. In central Gaza, the Israeli military has bombed the Bureij refugee camp again, injuring 7 people, most of them children.

Separately, Israeli forces shelled the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, killing at least 4 people there.

The Israeli genocidal war that began in early October has taken the lives of 39,175 Palestinians so far while leaving over 90000 others injured.
