‘Biggest asset’: Iran’s President-elect Pezeshkian hails Leader’s support

Iran's President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian

Iran's President-elected Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed his "sincere appreciation" to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for supporting him in the way of forming his upcoming administration.

"Now the people's trust and your support for Iran's administration are the biggest asset for all of us to achieve future successes," Pezeshkian said in a post on his X account on Sunday.

"A 'single voice' for Iran," the president-elect wrote.

In a meeting with members of the new Iranian Parliament in Tehran earlier on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the success of the newly-elected president in performing his duties is the success of all Iranians.

"My strong recommendation is the constructive interaction of the parliament with the new government. The success of the president and the new government is the success of all of us. Everyone should help the president to fulfill his duties towards the country,” the Leader stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei later wrote in his X account that all should help President-elect Pezeshkian fulfill his duties towards the country.

"If we can behave in such a way that the president succeeds, this is the success of all of us."

Pezeshkian emerged victorious in the second round of the presidential vote on July 5. He garnered more than 16 million votes against ex-nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, who secured upwards of 13 million out of over 30 million votes cast, with the voter turnout standing at almost 50 percent.
