Hezbollah conducts unprecedented drone operation against Israeli base
Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement has carried out an unprecedented retaliatory operation against an Israeli military base, striking the target with a swarm of drones.
The movement announced the development in a statement on Thursday, identifying the target as the regime’s Filon base.
The outpost, which lies near Lebanon’s border with the occupied Palestinian territories, houses logistical warehouses and ammunition depots.
The resistance movement said its attack had targeted the positions and accommodations of officers and forces at the base, achieving “confirmed hits.”
The Israeli regime has been waging sporadic attacks on southern Lebanon since October 7, when it started a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
The attacks, many of which have led to assassination of Hezbollah’s members and commanders, have sparked a firefight with Hezbollah.
The resistance movement, which fought off two Israeli wars against the country in 2000 and 2006, has pledged to defend Lebanon with all its resources in the event of another wholesale Israeli military onslaught.
Most recently, a senior Hezbollah official said the regime’s insistence on waging another war against Lebanon only served to speed up the occupying entity’s demise.
“The more the Israeli enemy's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists on war, the quicker he hastens the end of the entity,” said Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, chairman of the movement’s Executive Council.
Completing its Thursday statement, Hezbollah said its recent operation had also taken place “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their brave and honorable resistance.”
