Israel’s presence, West’s subversive policies root causes of ‘bitter’ regional events: Pezeshkian

Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian says the “bitter” events in the region stem from the presence of Israel and the subversive policies of the West.

In a phone conversation with Head of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Sunday, Pezeshkian praised the "courage" decision of the Yemeni leadership and people to support the Palestinian people.

He said the Yemenis entered this battle with all courage and expressed confidence that the Iranian people and all free nations will appreciate Yemen's support for Palestine under the ongoing difficult circumstances.

Pezeshkian criticized certain Muslim countries for acting only in accordance with their own interests and issuing statements.

Israel launched the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 after Palestinian resistance groups carried out a surprise retaliatory operation into the occupied territories.

Ever since the onset of the war, the Yemeni forces have carried out scores of operations in support of the war-hit Gazans, striking targets throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, besides targeting Israeli ships or the vessels that head towards the ports of those territories.

So far during the military onslaught, the Israeli regime has killed at least 38,580 Palestinians.

Pezeshkian further expressed gratitude to Mashat for offering him congratulations on his victory in the Iranian presidential election.

He noted that Iran and Yemen enjoy deep-rooted commonalities but Tehran seeks to further promote mutual relations.

The Iranian president-elect expressed hope that the siege on the Yemeni people would be lifted and that peace would be established in the country.

He wished success, progress and prosperity for the Yemeni leadership and people.

For his part, the head of Yemen's Supreme Political Council extended his congratulations to the Iranian president-elect over his victory in the election and gaining the trust of the Iranian people.

Mashat said the success of the elections in Iran is considered as a victory for the Iranian people and the Islamic Revolution.

He also thanked Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation for their stance in support of Palestinians.
