Protestors burn NATO, US flags in Greece, demanding end to wars, closure of US-NATO bases

Activists gathered to protest against NATO and the alliance military bases in Greece's Thessaloniki, demanding an immediate end to conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza and the closure of US-NATO bases in Greece.

Footage shows protesters burning NATO and US flags and carrying banners reading: 'NATO and EU enemies of people', '75 years of NATO wars, wars, wars' while chanting: 'The bases must go away, no participation in interventions' as they gathered in front of the US embassy with Palestinian flags.

"We burned the symbols of all the wars of the last decades, of NATO and those who stand politically behind the wars, the US. 75 years of crimes are not forgiven." said one protester giving a speech.

"75 years of countless wars, interventions and coups.75 years soaked in the blood and lives of millions of people." said another .

The protest took place on the third and final day of NATO's 75th-anniversary summit in Washington. It was organized by socialist organizations in Greece, along with pro-Palestine activities.

The anti-NATO protests in Greek major cities come at a time when Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and the high representative of the EU for foreign policy and security policy Josep Borrell visited the Greek headquarters of the European Operation Aspides in Larissa.
