The United States has reportedly sent Israel large quantities of ammunition, including thousands of highly destructive 2,000-pound bombs, since the start of the regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7 last year.

Two US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said on Saturday that the administration of President Joe Biden has transferred more than 10,000 2,000-pound bombs, as well as at least 14,000 MK-84 2,000-pound bombs, 6,500 500-pound bombs, 3,000 Hellfire precision-guided air-to-ground missiles, 1,000 bunker-buster bombs, 2,600 air-dropped small-diameter bombs, and other munitions between last October and recent days, without giving a timeline for the shipments.

The latest figures indicate no signs of dropping off in US military support for Israel despite a recent decision by the Biden administration to halt a shipment of thousand-pound bombs to Israel.

“While these numbers could be expended relatively quickly in a major conflict, this list clearly reflects a substantial level of support from the United States for our Israeli allies,” said Tom Karako, a weapons expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

He also noted the listed munitions were the type Israel would use in its fight against the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas or in a potential conflict with Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah.

The latest development came two days after the news Axios website reported that the US is to send Israel 500-pound bombs that were part of a weapons shipment "suspended" over the Israeli invasion of Gaza’s Rafah.

The shipment, which also includes the 2,000-pound bombs, was put on hold in May amid concerns about the invasion of the city of Rafah, where more than half of Gaza's 2.4 million population have sought shelter from Israeli strikes elsewhere in Gaza.

According to the report, the US administration is still reviewing the other part of the shipment which includes 1,800 2,000-pound bombs.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Since then, the United States has supplied the Tel Aviv regime with more than 10,000 tons of military equipment and used its veto power against all United Nations Security Council resolutions that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The occupying regime has killed at least 37,834 Palestinians and injured over 86,858 since the start of the offensive. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced as well.
