Gaza truce plan

Palestinian resistance groups have offered their official response to the latest Gaza ceasefire plan. Hamas and Islamic Jihad have, in a joint statement, said their priorities are a complete end to the ongoing Israeli war and securing the interests of the Palestinian people. According to the Palestinian sources, the groups have offered some amendments to the Israeli proposal, including a timeline for a permanent ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Strip. Qatari and Egyptian mediators confirmed receiving the response. The mediators say they would coordinate with the relative parties regarding the next steps after studying the Palestinian response. On Monday, a US-drafted Gaza truce plan was adopted by the UN Security Council.

Gaza's crossings closure

The European Union says the continued closure of Gaza’s major crossings by Israel is preventing hundreds of aid trucks from entering the blockaded territory. The EU’s directorate-general for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid says more than two thousand trucks carrying much needed humanitarian aid and commercial goods are stuck on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing. It added that due to Israel’s intense military operations, the crossing remains closed, preventing aid from entering the territory. It also asked Israel to maintain the crossing open for unhindered provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance. The crossing has been closed since Israel’s military launched an operation in the southern city of Rafah on May 6.

Iraqi resistance retaliates

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq says it has conducted a new retaliatory strike on an Israeli position in the occupied territories. In a statement, the umbrella group said it used drones to attack a vital Israeli target in the port city of Umm al-Rashrash, also known as Eilat. The group said the operation was in response to the Israeli massacre of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, including women, children and the elderly. The Iraqi group vowed to continue retaliatory attacks on Israeli targets. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has also been hitting American military bases in Iraq and neighboring Syria in retaliation for Washington’s support for the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
