US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

Israeli forces kill over 280 Palestinians in Gaza during 24 hours, as the death toll from the regime’s genocide tops 37,000, mostly women and children.

Gaza ceasefire plan

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says it’s ready to deal positively with any ceasefire initiative for Gaza. Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri called on the US administration to put pressure on Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Egypt as part of a West Asia tour to push for the recent US proposal for truce in Gaza. US President Joe Biden says the three-phase proposal had been presented by Israel. However, Tel Aviv has not fully endorsed it. Hamas says it has not received concrete proposals that could lead to a sustainable ceasefire agreement with Israel. With the presidential election around the corner in the US, the Biden administration is under public pressure from inside and outside the country to stop supporting Tel Aviv and the genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Iran presidential campaign

Campaigning has kicked off for Iran’s 14th presidential election, a day after the Guardian Council announced the list of approved candidates. Six candidates will compete in the race for the top executive post. The Iranian Interior Ministry, which organizes the vote, has said the campaigning will continue until 24 hours before the Election Day due on June 28. The hopefuls will be given equal air time on a number of TV programs, including lengthy debates, cultural and economic roundtables and documentary shows. They have the opportunity to unveil their plans, which are expected to mainly focus on economy, as part of efforts to woo voters. Campaign posters and banners are seen in Tehran and other cities across the nation. The snap vote is to be held to pick a successor to late president Ebrahim Raeisi who lost his life in a helicopter crash on May 19.
