The Muslim nation of Maldives has decided to ban Israelis from entering the Indian Ocean archipelago in protest at the genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

President Mohamed Muizzu's office announced on Sunday that the Cabinet had agreed to ban Israeli passport holders from entering the country and to establish a subcommittee to oversee the process.

Also, a special envoy is to be appointed to assess the Palestinian needs and to launch a fundraising campaign to aid the people there.

The months-long Israeli genocidal war on the Palestinians trapped in the besieged Gaza Strip has stirred public anger in the country famous for its calm luxury resorts.

The Israeli killing machine, following a special retaliatory operation by Palestinian resistance groups, launched an ongoing genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Since then, the Western-backed Zionist regime has continued to wreak death and destruction against Palestinians with impunity in the occupied Palestinian land despite mounting international pressure for a ceasefire.

Several governments have even taken legal action at international courts in an effort to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

In this regard, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Tel Aviv to stop its genocidal actions and allow humanitarian aid to reach the besieged Gaza Strip.

Also, the chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) has applied for an arrest warrant for Israeli "war criminal" prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
