‘Imam Khomeini’s ideals still inspiring global liberation movements’

Iran’s General Staff says Imam Khomeini’s ideals are inspiring liberation movements around the world.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran says ideals introduced by late Imam Khomeini are still inspiring liberation movements around the world.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the General Staff said that Imam Khomein’s ideology of standing up against imperialism has reached the far corners of the world, leading to a change in the calculations and plans of the world’s dominant powers.

The statement came on the eve of the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979 who led the country until he died at the age of 86 on June 3, 1989.

Hundreds of thousands gather in his mausoleum in southern Tehran every year to mark the anniversary and to pay respect to a towering figure whose revolutionary ideals and his movement against the former Shah of Iran created a political landslide in the region and around the world.

Imam Khomeini’s fatwa to Muslims banning them from engaging in any political or trade relations with the Zionist regime of Israel has become a major theme of discussion these days, especially in the Western countries where public anger is raging about Israel’s ongoing onslaught against Palestinians in Gaza.

Nearly 36,400 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its aggression on the territory in early October.

The Iranian General Staff said in its statement that resistance cells formed upon Imam Khomeini’s initiative several decades ago have continued to thrive under the leadership of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, adding that the Resistance has now become a strong tree at the heart of imperialist system.

It said that the Iranian armed forces are ready to put up a strong defense of the ideals of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei in any place and at any time.
