Former US president Donald Trump has slammed his "hush money" trial in New York as "very unfair," after he was found guilty of 34 felonies by the jury.

"It was very unfair... You saw what happened to some of the witnesses that were on our side -- they were literally crucified," Trump said in a speech on Friday.

He made the remarks as a unanimous 12-person jury on Thursday found Trump guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records to cover up the hush-money payment to an adult movie actress, who claims she had an affair with the Republican, shortly before the 2016 election.

Trump said Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over his trial, is a "tyrant", adding "This man who looks like an angel, but he is really a devil."

He claimed that he wanted to testify, as was his legal right, but that he was not permitted to.

Trump, who became the first former US president to be convicted of felony crimes, vowed to appeal “this scam... on many different things."

The judge set Trump’s sentencing for July 11, few days before the Republican Party formally nominates him as its presidential candidate.

Trump faces a potential prison sentence, but is much more likely to receive probation. The legal landmark, however, does not prevent him from continuing his election bid.

The 77-year-old Republican on Friday called his adversaries "sick" and "fascists."

The former president faces three far more serious cases over his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results that saw Biden defeating Trump, and hoarding of top-secret documents at his home in Florida.

Those cases, however, are not likely to go to trial before the November election.
