World footballers break silence on Gaza, condemn Israel’s Rafah massacres

The carnage in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip has awakened the conscience of people around the world, prompting even prominent world footballers to break their silence.

In the wake of the series of massacres perpetrated by the Israeli regime in the southernmost city of the besieged Palestinian territory, killing over 60 people, many people are saying ‘Enough is enough’.

Marcus Thuram, a French national footballer who plays as a forward for Serie A club Inter Milan, was one of the first big names in world football to express solidarity with the people in Gaza.

Thuram shared a viral image in his Instagram page stories captioned ‘All eyes on Rafah’.

Reiss Nelson, an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Arsenal, was another high-profile world footballer to share the image that has been trending globally in recent days.

Malick Theaw, a German professional footballer who plays as a defender for Serie A club AC Milan and the German national team, also shared the image in solidarity with the people of southern Gaza.

William Saliba, a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Arsenal and the French national side, also took to his Instagram page to share the page in solidarity with people in Rafah.

David Beckham, the former England football team captain who played for a number of top-rung clubs, shared a post by UNICEF in which the UN agency expressed grave concern over the Israeli bombings in the southern Gaza city and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Yunus Musah, an American professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club AC Milan, joined other footballers to share the pro-Gaza image on his Instagram page.

Rafael Leão, a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a left winger for Serie A club AC Milan and the Portugal national team, also shared the same image on his Instagram page.

Ibrahima Konate, a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Liverpool and the France national team, also shared the image to express his solidarity with Gazans in Rafah.

Ousmane Dembele, a French professional footballer who plays as a winger for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and the France national team, shared the same image on his social media to express solidarity.

Jules Kounde, a French professional footballer who plays as a center-back for Barcelona and the France national team, also took to his social media pages to share a post by a Palestinian resistance Hossam Shabat in which he wrote about the latest massacres in the southern Gaza City.

Paul Pogba, a French footballer who plays for Serie A club Juventus, shared a poignant post on his Instagram page, expressing solidarity with the children of Gaza.
