Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators have defied pouring rain in New York City to condemn hugely deadly airstrikes by the Israeli regime against the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

The demonstration was held on Monday shortly after at least 50 Palestinians were killed during the strikes against a so-called designated safe zone for displaced people in the Gazan city.

After marching through New York, the participants gathered under their umbrellas at Zuccotti Park.

They could be heard chanting, "Resistance is justified when people are occupied, when people are colonized.”

According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, the fatalities from the Israeli strikes included women and children, many of whom had been “burned alive” inside their tents.

Also on Monday, UNRWA, the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency, said in a message on X social media platform that the images of charred and slain bodies from Rafah were yet another testament that Gaza was “hell on earth.”

Rafah serves as the last refuge for Gazans, who have fled there from the ravages of an October-present genocidal war by the Israeli regime.

More than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war that was launched following Al-Aqsa Storm, a retaliatory operation by the coastal sliver’s resistance movements.

The brutal Israeli military onslaught against Gaza rages, despite separate rulings that have been issued by the International Court of Justice demanding that the regime both ensure refrain from acts of genocide and halt its assault on Rafah.
