India general elections offer some hope to religious minorities

India’s general elections are in full swing, marking a significant democratic electoral exercise. More than 200 million Muslims view this election as a turning point for the country’s democracy as they have seen an unprecedented rise in violence after the BJP took power in 2014. Many say they want to vote for communal harmony, educational opportunities, and employment.
