Quds Day for Gaza

Protesters around the globe have gathered for the annual Quds Day demonstrations. The event, staged for the last four plus decades on the last Friday of Ramadan shows solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.

Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza has made Quds rallies even more significant this year. From Nigeria to London, to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and every stop between, millions of people mark this moment in a further blow to pro-Zionist sentiments.

Quds demonstrations come as the United Nations rights body, the Human Rights Council adopts a resolution calling for Tel Aviv to be held accountable for possible war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Gaza Strip. But as Tel Aviv has shown it cares very little for global bodies, especially the toothless United Nations.

Tensions mount between Biden and Netanyahu after Washington warns Tel Aviv that in order to maintain US support for the Gaza genocide it needs to show more care with civilian targets inside besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, British prime minister Rishi Sunak is facing increasing calls to suspend British arms sales to Israel.

Over 750 legal experts have signed a letter, urging ministers to act to prevent the risk of ‘plausible genocide,’ taking place inside Gaza. Global rallies to express Palestinian support and solidarity must provide some succour for those brave souls who continue to be stuck between murderous western munitions and rampant malnutrition and the constant assault of Israeli oppression.
