The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry says the crimes of Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza over the past six months served as a yardstick for assessing the adherence of governments to human rights.
In a post on his official X account on Friday, Nasser Kan'ani said the painful tragedy in the besieged territory has tested the commitment of countries and institutions as well as world bodies to their "human, moral, legal and international responsibilities towards human rights."
The Iranian official also commented on the reaction of those countries claiming to advocate human rights to the horrible crime of Israeli soldiers in the southwest coast of Gaza in killing and burying two unarmed Palestinian youths. It "clearly shows how sincere they are in their human rights slogans and claims," he said.
The Iranian spokesman's post came after a new video showed Israeli soldiers have shot dead two unarmed Palestinian men in cold blood while they were trying to return to northern Gaza, their bodies buried in sand and rubbish by an army bulldozer.
The disturbing incident, which was captured by long-distance cameras, shows Israeli troops opening fire on the two men who were walking along al-Rashid Street and the al-Nablusi roundabout in Gaza City.
At least one of the two men repeatedly waved what appeared to be white fabric, in a sign of surrender and to show that there was no threat.
In a statement on Thursday, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said that “footage aired by Al Jazeera documenting the cold-blooded killing of two unarmed young civilians by Zionist occupation forces and their bodies dragged with a bulldozer to cover up the crime is further evidence of Zionist crimes.”
Hamas called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take “urgent action to stop the systematic killing” of the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip.
Israel ignited its bloody war machine in the Gaza Strip on October 7 after Hamas carried out a historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
Nearly six months into the hostilities, the regime has failed to achieve its objectives of “destroying Hamas” and finding Israeli captives despite killing at least 32,620 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring over 75,000 others.
