Iran ‘fully ready' to cooperate with independent countries to fight terrorism: Ambassador

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali

Iran’s ambassador to Russia has condemned the recent deadly terrorist attack in Moscow, expressing the Islamic Republic’s readiness to cooperate with independent countries in the fight against terrorism.

Kazem Jalali made the remarks in a note of condolence and sympathy in memory of the victims of Friday's attack on the Crocus City Hall near the Russian capital, where at least 139 people were killed and dozens of others wounded, including women and children.

“While strongly condemning this horrible crime, I express my deep regret and sympathy as well as that of my country’s government and people to the government and people of Russia,” Jalali wrote.

The Iranian ambassador underlined that an effective fight against terrorism demands serious action by the international community.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that a joint and effective fight against all forms of terrorism requires serious and non-discriminatory action by the international community," Jalali said.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran voices its full readiness to cooperate with all independent countries in reaching a comprehensive solution to combat this sinister phenomenon," he added.

The Iranian diplomat also wished patience for the survivors and a speedy recovery for all those injured in the deadly terrorist attack outside Moscow.

In an address on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on authorities to do everything necessary so that the perpetrators of the recent massacre at the concert hall in Moscow would be punished.

Four gunmen burst into Moscow’s Crocus City Hall on March 22 and began shooting at the people who attended an event. They killed nearly 140 people and injured over 180 others.

Health officials said about 90 people remain hospitalized, with 22 of them, including two children, in grave condition.

Eleven people, including the assailants, have been detained and are facing terrorism charges.

The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the massacre but Russian officials blame Ukraine and the West for the massacre.
