Ukraine has launched a wave of drone attacks on several border regions in Russia for a second day in a row, and Russian forces managed to detect and destroy over 30 drones.
The attacks have caused damage to infrastructure and housing in border regions, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region said Wednesday.
He said falling debris caused damage to a gas supply line in one village and cut off electricity to a couple of others.
"No one was injured,” he wrote in a message on social media.
Several drones also landed on the site of an oil refinery in the Rostov region bordering Ukraine, said regional governor Vasily Golubev.
Kiev also launched drones at the Russian town of Shebekino, injuring one man and damaging a power line in the town and nearby villages.
More than 30 drones shot down over Russia
Russian forces detected and destroyed “more than 30 drones,” over the territory of the Voronezh region overnight, said Voronezh regional governor Alexander Gusev.
“There are no casualties,” he said. “All services are already on the ground.”
On Tuesday night, Russian forces launched a missile strike in President Volodymyr Zelensky's hometown of Kryvyi Rih.
Zelensky said the attack would not go "unpunished.”
Fighting has been raging in Ukraine for more than two years since Russia launched its “special military operation” in the country.
Ukraine's military is now facing a myriad of shortages, from artillery to air defenses, as its staunch ally, the United States, has failed to pass more military assistance since late year.
