Israeli forces have shot a Jordanian citizen in the occupied West Bank and left him bleeding until he passed away, Palestinian officials say.

They shot Tawfiq Aed Fawaz Hussein, 25, north of the West Bank city of Tulkarm on Monday, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

“He was injured in the leg and the occupation forces left him bleeding inside the ambulance for more than an hour and a half before he died.”

The Israeli military claimed that Hussein was suspected of being an accomplice of a Palestinian fighter, Muhammad Jabar, who was killed by Israeli forces on Monday.

According to a Palestinian security officer, Hussein had come to visit relatives in the Nur Shams refugee camp.

Violence has surged in the occupied Palestinian territory since Israel started its war in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. Ever since, Israel has killed at least 427 Palestinians in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
