The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says it has fired rockets toward the northern part of the occupied territories from south Lebanon.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Qassam Brigades said 40 rockets had been fired toward Israeli military sites on the Lebanese border.
The rocket strike was a direct response to the Israeli campaign of death and destruction in the besieged Gaza Strip and the assassination of resistance commanders in southern Lebanon in January, Qassam stated.
An Israeli strike in January killed the deputy leader of Hamas Saleh al-Arouri and six other people in southern Beirut.
Israeli Channel 12 said 14 rockets were fired from Lebanon at the town of Kiryat Shmona. The regime’s military also said “approximately 10 launches which crossed from Lebanon into northern Israel were identified.”
Also, Israel reported property damage in the Kiryat Shmona area.
The Lebanese residence movement Hezbollah has repeatedly fired rockets at Israeli military bases over the past weeks.
Hezbollah says the attacks are in retaliation for Israeli hostilities in Gaza.
