Thousands march in Barcelona to demand end of arms supplies to Israel

Thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators took to the streets of Barcelona on Sunday to demand an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and call on the Spanish government to cut ties with Israel.

Footage shows crowds of protesters marching behind a large banner from the Passeig de Gracia street towards Catalunya Square while chanting and waving Palestinian flags.

“We ask [the government] to stop buying and selling guns to Israel and the end of the diplomatic, cultural, [and] sports [ties] with Israel, and we ask also that Spain side with South Africa in the International Court of Justice that accuses Israel of genocide,” a demonstrator said.

“We should at least stop economic and institutional relationships [with Israel] and at last, [consider] a full stop in buying and selling weapons. It's immoral that any kind of traffic of guns or technology could be done with a [regime] ... that is killing thousands of kids,” added another protester.

Similar protests took place across the country, including in the capital Madrid, where hundreds of protesters marched to express solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.

Israel's military aggression against the Gaza Strip has so far killed about 29,700 civilians, mostly women and children, while leaving more than 69,800 others wounded.
