Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian of Iran says peace will be restored to West Asia if Israel stops its war in Gaza.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in Beirut on Saturday, the Iranian minister underscored the glaring fact that the United States continues to send weapons to Israel in its brutal campaign in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Amir-Abdollahian also highlighted the irony in that the United States speaks about finding a political solution to the crisis in Gaza.

Pointing to his “good” negotiations with the Lebanese officials on bilateral and regional issues, the Iranian minister said Tehran and Beirut have always been against the expansion of war in the region and believe it is not a solution to the Palestinian issue.

The top Iranian diplomat said the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has acted “wisely and carefully” both in fighting the crimes of Israel and pursuing a political path.

“It is clear to the world that more than four months of war in Gaza and the West Bank have led to no tangible result for Israel and its supporters.”

The Lebanese foreign minister, for his part, said Tehran and Beirut agree that all countries should make efforts to stop the ongoing onslaught in Gaza and dispatch humanitarian aid to the war-stricken Palestinians.

Bou Habib said in talks with his Iranian counterpart, the two sides discussed the necessity to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on stability in Lebanon.
