Iran’s weightlifter Ali Alipour has secured a gold medal in the 89kg class in the Asian Weightlifting Championships (AWC) 2024.
With a total lift of 363kg, Alipour finished first on Thursday, bagging a gold medal.
He also walked away with two silver medals after lifting 163kg in snatch and 200kg in clean and jerk in the ongoing tournament held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
On Wednesday, another Iranian weightlifter, Abdullah Beiranvand, in the 81kg class, secured a silver medal after lifting 154kg in snatch.
He also lifted 182kg in clean and jerk to finish his competition in the event with a total lift of 336kg.
Beiranvand stood fourth in his class in the tournament.
