Gaza genocide case

The International Court of Justice has concluded the first day of hearings on a lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel’s genocide in the Gaza strip. At the closing South Africa demanded the court orders Israel to immediately suspend its onslaught in the besieged Palestinian territory. The court devoted the first day of hearings to the arguments submitted by South Africa. On Friday, Israel will be allowed to defend. Many nations, including Iran have voiced their support for the case. Belgium is the only European country that has backed the petition against Israel at the top UN court. The Hague-based tribunal’s judgments are binding with no right of appeal. Under the UN Charter, in case of a ruling, Israel has to do whatever the court rules, but there is no mechanism to enforce any such order.

US-Israel onslaught

Israel has launched fresh airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on the 97th day of the genocidal war. The latest attacks targeted the city of Rafah and the Magahazi refugee camp in southern Gaza. At least seven people were killed in the city of Khan Younis. Nearly 23,500 Palestinians have been killed and around 60,000 wounded since October the seventh. Most of the casualties are women and children.

Yemen warns US

Sana’a says any targeting of Yemen by the US and its allies will not go unanswered as the tensions in the Red Sea grow. The Ansarullah movement’s leader reiterated that freedom and safety of navigation in the Red Sea are not at risk in Yemen. He said Sana’a only targets ships that are owned by or linked to Israel. Abdul-Malik al-Houthi also urged all Arab people to boycott Israeli products as their governments refuse to take proper action against the regime. The Yemeni armed forces, in solidarity with the people of Gaza, have launched missile and drone attacks on vessels operated by Israel or those heading to the regime’s ports in the past three months.
