Resilient resistance in Gaza

Israeli airstrikes and shelling continue to hammer Gaza, causing more fatalities in the besieged territory. Gaza’s Health Ministry says the attacks have killed 122 Palestinians in the past day. This brings the total Palestinian death toll in Gaza since October 7 to over 22,700, and more than 58,000 injured. The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza is now in its 92nd day and Gaza’s resistance keeps repelling invading tanks and infantry. The al-Qassam Brigades says its fighters have eliminated eight Israeli soldiers in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis, during an ambush. In al-Bureij refugee camp, the group said its fighters destroyed two Merkava tanks with al-Yassin 105 shells. Israeli regime says over 170 of its forces have been killed in Gaza since the ground invasion began on Oct. 27. The resistance groups however, say the regime is under-reporting its casualties.

'Aid mission impossible'

The United Nations has warned that the aid mission in Gaza is almost impossible to complete amid Israel’s relentless bombardment of the blockaded territory. Stephanie Tremblay, the associate spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, added what is now significant in Gaza is having a humanitarian ceasefire, finding a way to address the growing needs of the Gaza population, and facilitating aid delivery. The remarks by the UN official come as hospitals and other critical facilities in Gaza remain the prime targets of the Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire. Doctors in Gaza say the lack of equipment and staff is hindering efforts to treat those who have been injured in Israeli attacks.

Netanyahu called to resign

Thousands of Israelis have once again rallied in Tel Aviv to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over his failure to secure the release of captives in Gaza. The protesters were angry at Netanyahu’s handling of captives’ release. They demanded his immediate resignation and called for early elections. The demonstrators vowed to continue their protests until all captives are released. Netanyahu has been in hot water over his handling of the Gaza onslaught. Israel has so far failed to release any of the captives by military means. It has also failed to achieve any of its stated goals. Israel has been the scene of anti-Netanyahu rallies for months. The Israeli prime minister has been charged with fraud, bribery and breach of trust in three cases filed in 2019.
