Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Lyon on Saturday in a show of solidarity with Palestine and to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Footage shows protesters marching from Place Bellecour while waving Palestinian flags and holding placards and banners bearing slogans such as, "Stop the massacres in Gaza" and "Ceasefire."

"I am against the genocide that Israel is producing in Gaza. I am desperate for the Palestinian people who do not have an army, but they have in front of them a very powerful army that is killing thousands of children,” a demonstrator said.

Another protester noted, "The people of Gaza, [and] the people of Palestine are universal because we could be them at any moment."

Since the occupying regime unleashed its genocidal war against the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, the international community has unanimously called for an end to hostilities against the Palestinian territory.

Up to now, some 19,000 Gazans, mostly women and children, have been killed by the Israeli war machine.
