Hundreds join pro-Palestine march in South Africa's Johannesburg

Thousands of demonstrators joined a pro-Palestine march in South Africa's Johannesburg on Sunday in a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Footage shows protesters walking in procession with a large Palestinian flag while others are chanting through megaphones.

"I stand here today to express my outrage and horror at the 247 healthcare workers that have been killed and the indiscriminate bombing of hospitals, clinics, and all the civilians and the vulnerable people in Gaza," said a psychiatrist who attended the rally alongside other healthcare workers.

“Our colleagues and healthcare workers have suffered tremendously and that trauma is ongoing. We need the world to stand up for them and to be the voice that is able to rise up and to say enough is enough. We stand with Gaza," added a second protester.

Israel started the war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements launched the surprise Operation al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the regime’s decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

According to Gaza’s health ministry more than 15,500 Palestinians have been killed and over 41,300 others wounded since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on the coastal territory.
