The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Peyman Jebelli has traveled to Lebanon on a trip aimed at the expansion of cultural and media relations between the regional nations.
Jebelli, who was accompanied by the head of the IRIB World Service Ahmad Norouzi, arrived in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Thursday.
Jebelli along with his delegation plans to meet Lebanese officials, resistance leaders, journalists, media organizations, and families of martyrs who were recently killed during the ongoing Israeli aggression against southern Lebanon.
During the visit, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting with the Lebanese government and Hezbollah resistance movement will sign a series of memorandum of understanding and agreements on expanding cultural and media cooperation.
He will discuss the media responsibilities and duties of the "Axis of Resistance", the challenges of this path, and how to deal with them.
The visit is reportedly aimed at consultation towards enhancement of regional media interaction as a means of better representation of the achievements of the "Axis of Resistance".
The Islamic Republic boasts a brilliant track record in the area and the IRIB chief has hailed the broadcaster's proper, punctual, and expeditious coverage of sensitive events across the region.
The trip will serve as a serious prelude to media cooperation toward the re-establishment of the resistance's accomplishments.
Earlier this year Tehran hosted the first international conference dubbed “Media and the Unity of the Islamic world.”
The event brought together thinkers, journalists and activities from different Islamic countries to explore avenues for boosting unity among the Islamic Ummah through media cooperation.
The first international conference on media and the unity of the Islamic world was aimed at building capacity, networking and raising awareness among Islamic nations with regard to the international developments especially anti-Islam campaigns, which will further forge unity among Muslims worldwide.
The visit comes as some agencies and Western media outlets are desperately legitimizing the ongoing Israeli war crimes against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza.
Experts say the systemic bias in favor of Israel is irreparably damaging the credibility of news agencies and media outlets considered mainstream in the eyes of Western people and others.
As Western media organizations dehumanize Palestinians and legitimize Israeli violations of international law against Gaza, it is glaringly obvious that the vital historical context of the trauma Palestinians have been through for the past 75 years is being left out.
Western correspondents have gone to Israel where they reported extensively on the grief of Israeli families, but Israel has not allowed foreign journalists to enter Gaza.
Human rights groups have pointed to what they term damning evidence of war crimes as Israeli attacks wipe out entire families in the besieged Gaza Strip.
