Humans of Gaza: Dana Al-Saqqa, lawyer; Tawfiq Al-Farra, dentist

By Press TV Website

Like other young Palestinians, they had dreams and ambitions and wanted to see a day when the occupation no longer exists and their besieged territory unshackles itself and celebrates freedom.

But, like many other Palestinians, they were silenced by the regime for being what they are.

Dana Al-Saqqa, a Gaza-based lawyer, and her husband Tawfiq Al-Farra, a dentist, got married at the beginning of this year after a few years of knowing each other.

The duo was expecting their first child in a few months and celebrations were already in the air.

According to her friends, Saqqa surprised them nearly a month ago with the news of her pregnancy.
She was excited and hoped for a baby girl.

Her husband was also excited and looking forward to a new family member.

Their photos on social media show them as a happy couple who gleefully posed for pictures, went on outings, and loved each other’s company. They appeared to be a match made in heaven.

However, their happy tale of togetherness had a tragic twist on Monday, as an Israeli airstrike targeted their home in the northern Gaza Strip, leaving a trail of death and destruction.

Saqqa and Farra, both in their early 20s and their unborn child were all killed. Their happy story ended on a sad note. Their dream of starting a family was shattered into pieces.

Palestinian foreign ministry in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday confirmed their death.

“The Israeli occupation forces bombed their house in the Gaza Strip, and killed them, their dreams, and their first baby that they were expecting,” the ministry stated, pointing to the human toll of the Gaza war.

One social media user, quoting one of Saqqa’s childhood friends, said the slain lawyer always had a feeling that she would die at a young age given the precarious situation in the besieged territory.

Thousands of young men and women have been killed in recent weeks as the Israeli killing machine has upped the ante, indiscriminately bombing the densely populated coastal territory.

The death toll has already crossed 11,000 in the Gaza Strip, most of them children and women.
