India or Bharat?

India hosted a meeting of G20 leaders in September. On a dinner invitation sent out to the G20 guests on behalf of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, she was described as “President of Bharat.” Then, opening the G20 summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sat behind a nameplate that read “Bharat” instead of “India.”
