Iran favors dialogue and close consultation with the Netherlands despite certain differences to clear up misunderstandings and enhance interaction, says a senior diplomat.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani was speaking on the phone with his Dutch counterpart Marcel de Vink on Sunday.

Constant consultation, the Iranian official said, figures high on Iran’s foreign policy agenda with respect to relations with the Netherlands.

Iran believes dialogue can prepare the ground for the settlement of differences and ultimately contribute to further interaction, Bagheri Kani said.

“Iran and the Netherlands are in a new phase of cooperation, which is expected to expand in light of mutual will.”

The Dutch deputy foreign minister, for his part, underscored the importance of dialogue between the two nations. He said diplomacy will help clear up misunderstandings.
