Iranian judokas clinch 2 gold medals at 2023 IBSA World Games

Iranian visually-challenged judokas have delivered remarkable athletic skills at the 2023 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Games in the United Kingdom, and received two gold medals at the high-level international event.

On Thursday, Mousa Gholami emerged triumphant over his Brazilian counterpart in the 90-kilogram weight class following four victories at the Symphony Hall of Birmingham, and claimed a gold medal.

Earlier, Vahid Jeddi had defeated Feruz Sayidov of Uzbekistan in the final contest of the J2 minus 73-kilogram weight class, and had been awarded a gold medal.

Nathan Petit of France and Kazakhstan’s Olzhas Orazalyuli won the bronze medals.

Moreover, Meysam Banitaba could earn a third-place finish in the J1 minus 60-kilogram division, and pocketed a bronze medal.

The 2023 IBSA World Games opened in the United Kingdom on August 14, and will run through August 27.

The sporting event has reportedly brought together more than 1250 competitors with visual impairment from 70 nations.
