Annual BRICS summit held in South Africa
The 15th annual summit of BRICS has been held in the South African city of Johannesburg.
The bloc's leaders have criticized the existing global payment systems, for being manipulated for political purposes, calling for the use of local currencies to facilitate trade and investment.
The bloc is trying to create an alternative payment mechanism in order to reduce the share of the US dollar in bilateral trade and business transactions.
