Iran Navy chief in Pakistan to boost military cooperation

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani is in Pakistan to discuss ways on improving bilateral cooperation in various military fields.

Heading a senior military delegation, Irani arrived in Islamabad on Monday on an official three-day visit at the invitation of Chief of Pakistan’s Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.

According to a Pakistan Navy news release, Irani visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad and was welcomed by his Pakistani counterpart and reviewed a guard of honor.

During the meeting between the Iranian and Pakistani navy commanders, issues of mutual interest including bilateral maritime, defensive, and educational cooperation and the exchange of naval delegations were discussed.

Irani and Niazi also exchanged views about regional collaborations and maritime security in the region.

Niazi briefed Irani and his accompanying delegation on the professional activities of Pakistani naval forces to maintain maritime security and bolster bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

According to Pakistan’s Navy, Irani’s current visit to Islamabad would be an important step to strengthen cooperation between the two countries' naval forces.

Meanwhile, in a meeting between Irani and Pakistani Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, the two military commanders stressed the importance of improving military, educational, and aviation cooperation.

“The meeting between Irani and Baber Sidhu is a testament to the deep-rooted friendship and unwavering commitment of the two nations to work towards a peaceful and stable region,” Pakistan’s Air Force said in a statement.

The Pakistani marshal highlighted that the advancement in space, electronic warfare, cyber and niche technologies coupled with artificial intelligence had profoundly affected the traditional environment of national security.

He briefed the visiting dignitary on various projects which are being conducted by the Pakistan Air Force with a special focus on modernization and development of indigenous capabilities.

“Tehran and Islamabad enjoy longstanding religious, cultural, and historical bonds which are manifested through strong ties between both sides,” the Pakistani air chief said.

The Iranian Navy commander commended the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force personnel and the exceptional progress made by the PAF on its path to modernization Pakistan’s Air Force said.

Irani also appreciated Pakistan’s continuous efforts for regional stability and stressed the importance of further improvement in military-to-military ties, especially in the domains of operations, training, and the aviation industry.

Iran to form naval alliance with regional states to ensure security: Navy commander

The Iranian Navy commander says the country will form new regional and extra-regional alliances to ensure security.

Earlier this month, Irani announced that the Islamic Republic plans to form new regional and extra-regional alliances to enhance security.

He also named Pakistan among other countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iraq that are eager for collective naval cooperation.

Virtually all the countries located in the northern areas of the Indian Ocean have come to the conclusion that they should stand by Iran and jointly establish security through enhanced synergy, he added.

While the Israeli regime and its traditional ally, the US, have dreamed of a “NATO-like” anti-Iran alliance in the region, their dream shattered, as a number of Persian Gulf Arab countries, led by Saudi Arabia, realigned their alliance and restored their relations with Iran.
